MEET STACEY

Stacey began studying belly dance in 1995. In 2001, she was introduced to the Salimpour format and since has become one of the first Level 5 instructors in the Salimpour School.  She has been teaching classes since 2004 and has had a varied dance career not only as a performer and instructor, but as a director, producer and community member:

 

  • “Choreography Captain” for Texas, Melbourne, South Carolina and Cincinnati Salimpour Collectives

  • Founder and Director of the Tekatek Dance Ensemble

  • Owner and producer of the Austin Belly Dance Convention (ABDC) for 6 years

  • Choreographer & Director of "The Color Project" theatrical production

  • Founding member of Sabaya Dance Collective that produced a monthly showcase at downtown Austin's Copa nightclub for 7 years

  • House dancer and schedule manager for over 7 years at Alborz Persian Cuisine restaurant

  • Board member of the Austin Bellydance Association (ABA) nonprofit

  • Creator and moderator of the Austin and Texas Belly Dance Facebook groups

Instruction

Stacey currently offers weekly group classes in Austin, TX based on the Salimpour School of Dance framework.

Stacey is Level V certified in the Suhaila and Jamila formats, the official teaching level enabling graduates to offer Suhaila CEC’s (Continuing Education Credits) to certified students. She is able to offer Suhaila and Jamila Fundamentals workshops with optional testing.

​

Stacey directs the Tekatek Dance Ensemble, her advanced student dance troupe.  She is also the “Choreography Captain” of the Texas, Melbourne, Cincinnati and South Carolina Collectives.

Performance

Stacey has wide array of performance experience from restaurants, parades, private parties, and weddings to large stages.  She performs both choreographed (solo or group) and improvisational work.
